Peptonic signs license agreement with Prima Lab regarding menopause test

PEPTONIC Medical AB today announced that the company has signed a license agreement with Swiss medical device company Prima Lab SA for the sale of self-tests for measurement of FSH hormone in Sweden.

The agreement means that Peptonic gets the right to sell Prima Lab’s self-test for FSH hormone under its own brand VagiVital® in Sweden, with a planned launch in early 2024.

Today, about one million women in Sweden are in menopause. Menopause brings problems to varying degrees such as vaginal dryness, sweating, hot flushes and more subtle symptoms such as concentration and memory difficulties.

“It is not easy to know if you are in menopause or not, and there are also so many different diffuse symptoms that can be related to this phase of life. A self-test that indicates if you are in menopause can provide a reassuring answer that also helps you understand the cause of the unclear problems that may arise,” said Fanny Falkman Grinndal, Country Manager Sweden at Peptonic.

Prima Lab is a Swiss medical technology company with a specific focus on self-tests for women’s health. The company has its own development and sells its products in more than thirty countries around the world. During menopause, elevated FSH values are common, which is why a test that measures this is a good indicator.

Prima Lab is already a strategic partner to Peptonic as it sells Peptonic’s patented test for amniocentesis in a number of selected markets in Europe and out-license a urinary tract infection test that will be launched at the end of the year on the Swedish market by Peptonic.

“To continue to deepen the collaboration with Prima Lab, which is a leading player in self-tests for women’s health, is a very valuable step as we continue to build our portfolio according to the principle of diagnose, treat and prevent,” said Erik Sundquist, CEO of Peptonic.

“Peptonic is a growing and important player in women’s health, and we see the fact that the company is now introducing our self-test for FSH hormone on the Swedish market as very valuable for our continued expansion,” said Prima Lab’s CEO and founder Federico Roveda.
